Cured Walt Smith Premium Live Rock

In order to ensure highest quality and fast shipping times, we required a direct and quick shipment, in which our live rock would not sit on a warehouse floor on the way to us.

Price is $7/lb for un-cured live rock, and it will be $8/lb once it has cured. Here at Ottawa Inverts we use Walt Smith's technique for curing live rock and we recommend that you use the same if you ever choose to cure your own live rock. Why Walt Smith International Rock??

Walt Smith is world renound for for their methods of collection and shipping. WSI (Walt Smith International) has the only curing station in the South Pacific. Pictures from their Fiji Station shows that all rock is kept under a constant and heavy spray with high circulation and large protein skimmers. Immediately after the rock is recieved in their warehouse, crews scrub and power-rinse any undesirable material from the new rock. After this "rinsing" the rock is placed in their system for further "curing" and many undesirable critters which escaped their cleaners will crawl off of the rock to the bottom of the tanks. WSI confidently calls its rock the "best on the market, due to their tedious procedures". Each piece shipped has been hand selected from their system taking into consideration quality and coverage. When you compare this, to methods of collecting and packing unclean rock on the beach it is clear why we have decided to select Walt Smith International as our source for premium Fiji live rock.

When we unpacked our shipment here in Ottawa, we found the rock was first wrapped in wet newspaper then sealed in a plastic bag and shipped inside a sealed water-proof box to ensure that the rock stayed moist and fresh and maintained the highest level of moisture, life and diversity.
